Our Story

In 2016 One Dance UK launched as the new national support organisation for dance in the UK, following the merger of four existing organisations - The Association of Dance of the African Diaspora (ADAD), Dance UK, National Dance Teachers Association (NDTA) and Youth Dance England.

The merger took place to create a unified "go-to" industry body that represents dancers at all levels of the dance industry, and champions excellence in education, youth dance, dance of the African diaspora, performance, health and well-being, management, leadership, and career development.

FAQs

The creation of One Dance UK followed calls from the dance sector for a more joined-up way of working that would reduce duplication, combine expertise and resources, and strengthen advocacy.

By merging into one company - One Dance UK - we provide a single powerful voice for dance and help to lead strategic initiatives that benefit the entire dance sector including professional dancers, choreographers, companies, researchers, scientists, producers as well as educators and students.

Sometimes we get requests for content or information about programmes that took place before One Dance UK's formation. Whilst we aren't always able to locate very old content, we always do our best to signpost to what you need. You can find out more on our Past Projects and Archives page.
