New Directory launched for dancers in the North

A partnership of dance organisations across the North of England have joined together to launch a brand new directory for freelance artists. The Dance in the North Directory contains information about organisations in the North who offer commissioning pots, studio space and performance opportunities. 

Led by Yorkshire Dance the network currently includes The Civic in Barnsley, CAST Theatre in Doncaster, Cheshire Dance, Culture Warrington, Dance City, Kala Sangam, Lancaster Arts, Lowry in Salford and Northern School of Contemporary Dance. 

Creative Director of Yorkshire Dance Hannah Robertshaw explains, "as a freelancer it can feel like extra work to navigate local opportunities in the dance sector. Dance in the North is an informal network of organisations who are committed to programming dance and supporting the development of independent dance artists and companies. As a network we're all very different and our services for artists are differ. We identified that a simple directory outlining everything from residencies to programming, commissioning to producer support would really help freelance artists. We're pleased to be hosting this new directory on our website"
