The British Ballet Organization (bbodance) is delighted to announce that Lauren Cuthbertson has become a Vice President of the organisation. Lauren will join President Brenda Last OBE and Vice Presidents Sir David Bintley CBE and Cynthia Harvey, in this valuable role.

Lauren began her training at a local dance school in Devon (now Buckingham Dance Studios) and quickly became focused on Classical Ballet after accepting a place on the

Royal Ballet School’s Junior Associate Programme. She progressed at the Royal Ballet School, attending White Lodge from age 11 to 16 years and successfully auditioned for the Upper School, graduating at just 17 years old.

After joining the Royal Ballet Company in 2002 as a member of the corps de ballet, Lauren was soon promoted to Soloist and First Soloist before becoming a Principal in 2008. She took on iconic roles in her performance career, originating Alice in the Royal Ballet’s Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland and Queen Hermione in The Winter’s Tale

As well as being an influential name throughout her career and continuing to inspire students, teachers, artists and audiences worldwide, Lauren won the Dame Ninette de Valois Award in 2001 and the Arts and Culture Women of the Future Award in 2007. She is also a Patron of London Children’s Ballet and the National Youth Ballet, supporting the development of aspiring dancers.

Lauren has now danced with the Royal Ballet Company for over 20 years and was recently announced as their new Principal Guest Artist, which will enable her to utilise her incredible experience to develop professionally both on and off stage.

The British Ballet Organization is absolutely thrilled to begin work with Lauren to provide more opportunities for students and teachers.
