Job Description:
We are now looking to appoint a Contemporary Teacher to teach class and to prepare students across all three-year groups for a career as a professional dancer. The teacher must be proficient in and able to teach either Graham, Horton or Limon Technique to the highest level. They will be tasked with setting up the syllabus of this technique within the school and must be able to coach and create work within one of these styles.
The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate the following:
- Detailed and proven knowledge of contemporary dance practices, and the key traditions of training, education and performance.
- Up to date knowledge of contemporary repertoire, particularly that of English National Ballet
- Successful and proven experience of performing with a major professional company
- Experience of working as a contemporary teacher with advanced students aged 16-19
- A high level of general education relevant to the role
- A dance teaching qualification endorsed by a recognised educational body
- Excellent written and oral communication in English
- Basic knowledge of Windows PC systems and Microsoft Office programs such as Word and Outlook or willing to undergo training
- Ability to work as a member of a team
- Enthusiasm for contributing to the design of new courses
- Experience of marking dance related academic work
